There were actually at least two other distilleries in New York State before Tuthillton including Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery. For some reason people associate only whiskey with the word distilling but whether you are making brandy, gin, vodka, whiskey or any other spirit, it all requires distillation.
Make that more like 4.
Warwick and 2 distillers in the Finger Lakes (Swedish Hill and Knapp)plus one whose name escapes me at the moment.
