San Diego Spirits Festival Presents Chef/Bartender ‘DUAL CHALLENGE’ on June 3, 2010.

Meet and mingle with industry professionals, find out the difference between shaken or stirred, learn how to mix cocktails, (as if you didn’t already know), be seen, be heard, be there

San Diego Spirits Festival will hold its premier event: The Dual Bartender/Chef challenge on June 3rd from 5-8pm at THE US GRANT HOTEL in Downtown San Diego.

Headed up by noted San Diego Mixologists Ian Ward and Jeff Josenhans, six teams of two will be challenged to create a signature cocktail with a small plate pairing. Participating teams include; Ian Ward of Snake Oil Cocktail Co and Chef Joe Burns of Sé San Diego, Frankie the Bull “Terzoli” and Traci Brighouse of The Big Easy Restaurant, Chef Chris Kurth and Jeff Josenhans of The Grant Grill, Mario Cassineri and Brian “The Muddler” McFarland of Bice Ristorante, Chefs Ryan Grant and Alaun Grimaud from El Bizcocho at Rancho Bernardo Inn, Jennifer Queen and Executive Chef Sean Magee from Proper Gastro Pub.

Each entry will be judged based on flavor, presentation and pairing by our esteemed judges – Chef Brian Malarkey, Chef Peter Edwards, Riviera Dining Editor Troy Johnson, Liquor Historian and Author of Moonshine! Mathew Rowley, Food Writer Brandon Hernández, Cocktail Times Editor Yuri Kato, and Tequila Ambassador Gaston Martinez. The evening will be hosted by Liz Edwards, 94.1’s Geena ‘The Latina’ and CW’s Ruben Galvan.

San Diego Spirits Festival Jun 2-5, 2010

San Diego Spirits Festival is in its second year. Events are planned throughout the four days in the Historic Gaslamp District. It is a destination event attracting high-profile members of the spirits and culinary trade, as well as affluent consumers throughout the event’s four days. The weekend will culminate on Saturday June 5th with the Grand Tasting finale featuring OVER 60 BRANDS OF SPIRITS and much entertainment and surprises for everyone to enjoy. It will be held on the beautiful Waterfront Park on the Bay.
